IMAGINE: Be A Dreamer!
Waterloo-Wellington Regional Pride Presents Pride 2001 12pm - 6pm on Roos Island in Kitchener's Victoria Park.
We will be distributing our Annual Rainbow Pride Directory early this year. Look for your copy in late March or (at the latest) early April. These Directories are going to be distributed at no charge. We will also have some available on Pride Day.
Imagine: Be A Dreamer - Give the gift of food! Everyone that brings a donation for the Food Bank will get in for $1 instead of $2.
This year we will be charging $2.00 to come to Pride. To encourage donations to the Food Bank we will make that admission $1 if you bring an item for the Food Bank. This $1.00 will be put toward the cost of the Pride Weekend Program and Souvenier Guide. Inside each Program Guide you will find a $1.00 off ticket redeemable at either the Rainbow Chorus Dance in Guelph or Club Ren on Satuday night.
Kick-off at 12 noon with the "hate-free-zone ribbon" being wrapped around the island to the tune of John Lennon's inspiring song, "Imagine".
Note: There will not be any religious or spiritual element to the kick-off of this year's Pride In the Park event. So be sure to be there by 12 noon to join in the opening ceremony - the creation of a hate-free zone.
This year's entertainment wil feature Chris Edwards, The Ren Girls, Sarah Colleen and Removable Red (Sarah Dillon and Connie Buna).
Following our Pride Celebration in the park, as always, is plenty of high-energy fun at Club Ren. Stay tuned for times.
Celebrate Youth, a newer organization in town is holding a fundraising dance in association with WWRP and Pride. It will be held 8pm-1am at The Phoenix, 70 Belcan, in Waterloo. For details go to Celebrate Youth
For those of you in Guelph and surrounding area the Rainbow Chorus will be holding a dance at 611 Silvercreek (site of their own fundraising dances each month.)
More details to come - stay tuned.
Sunday June 10, 2001
The First Unitarian Congregation of Waterloo and The First Unitarian Congregation of Guelph will hold spiritual celebrations.
"Jammin' Pride" at Wholistic Health Juice Bar & Lounge 1-8pm. If you play an instrument come on down and jam. If not, hey, come down and listen to those who do. The Pride Party continues!
Details to come - stay tuned.
