Back in April of 2017, SPECTRUM's Aging with Pride Committee began work on a 12-month project that was funded by the federal New Horizons for Seniors Program. The project involved engagement with six retirement homes and two seniors community centres in Waterloo-Wellington. The project was a major success and helped those eight institutions move forward in creating more inclusive spaces for residents who identify as members of the rainbow community. As the project drew to a close in March of 2018, a dance was held to celebrate the accomplishments of the project. The dance revisited the famous “Bridgeport Dances” of the 1970s, and also featured a panel of people, among them were individuals who created those popular community-style dances and also who attended them. The photographs include Bryan Kaufman, Jim Parrott, Cait Glasson, Randy Farrell, Dennis Findlay, Dianne Roedding, Shelley Secrett, John Steel, Hellen Sencza, Marie Robertson, and Lily-Ann MacDonald.
