Milestones: Radio Shows
- 1978, August 9 (Wednesday)
On 1978, August 9 (Wednesday), the Kitchener-Waterloo Gay Media Collective began
broadcasting Gay News & Views on CKMS-FM, which was the University of
Waterloo campus radio station.
It ran until some time in 1987 or so.
- 1979, June 7 (Thursday)
On 1979, June 7 (Thursday), the Leaping Lesbians radio show began.
It appears that it was run by members of the Lesbian Organization of Kitchener (LOOK)
during the existence of the latter organization (which ran until around 1987).
Leaping Lesbians ceased in 2000 after more than 20 years of existence.
- 1993
In 1993, the Out & About radio show began broadcasting from the community
radio station CKWR 98.7 FM in Waterloo.
It ran until about 2000.
There appear to have been a number of other radio shows broadcast on CKMS-FM (which was the
University of Waterloo campus radio station) after the cessation of Gay News &
Views. We are attempting to document the existence of these programs.
