2002, June 2 (Sunday) - June 9 (Sunday) * Pride Week 2002: There's No Place Like Home

For the week June 2 to 9 the following events were planned: an art show and exhibition, a queer film screening, a bonfire, Pride Workshops, a Pride Dance and the Annual Pride Day Event.

The WWRP Art Show & Exhibition was entitled A Horse of a Different Colour. "Muses Café and Mostly Organic Juice Bar Café will be the locations of an art exhibition showcasing local LGBT artists. Join us on Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. for our kickoff receptions (both locations)."

The Queer film screening was entitled We're Off To See The Wizard. "The Princess Cinema in Waterloo will be screening L.I.E (Long Island Expressway). The film will run all three nights of Pride Weekend (June 7-9) at 9:20 P.M."

2002, June 7 (Friday) * Pride 2002: Columbia Lake Bonfire

The Columbia Lake Bonfire was entitled If I Were King Of The Forest. "The WWRP will be co-hosting an event with GLOW (Gays and Lesbians of Waterloo) at Columbia Lake in Waterloo. We will have fires lit so come out and enjoy a summer's evening around the campfire. There will be a drumming circle for you to join in on or watch. The event will run from 9:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. and is free. Please note that alcoholic beverages are not allowed."

2002, June 8 (Saturday) * Pride 2002: WWRP Community Pride Dance

The WWRP Community Pride Dance was entitled Surrender Dorothy. "We will be putting on our first independently run Pride Dance. The dance will take place at The Bridgeport Community Centre, Kitchener and run from 9:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M. DJ Bad Weather will be providing the music. The Bridgeport Community Centre was the home of LGBT dances in the KW area many years ago. Dust off those ruby slippers and get ready for a night of fun."

2002, June 9 (Sunday) * Pride 2002: Annual Pride Day Event

The Annual Pride Day Event was entitled There's No Place Like Home. "Our annual Pride Day will again take place on Roos Island, Victoria Park, Kitchener. The event will run from noon to 7:00 P.M., with SEVEN hours of stage performers, vendors and community group, children's activities, silent auction, plenty of food and of course, a licensed beer garden."

During the afternoon of the Annual Pride Day Event, Community Awards were presented to the following: Gregory (Greg) Cassidy, awarded pothumously (he lived 1960-1995); Annie Nixon and the Robin's Nest; Bread and Roses Co-operative Homes (Kitchener) Inc.; and Scott N. Schau.

2002, September 8 (Sunday) * Friends of Dorothy Bowling League: Season 4 (2002-2003) Began

On September 8, 2002, the Friends of Dorothy Bowling League began their Season 4, which ran from September 8, 2002 to April 6, 2003 (30 weeks). League Fees: $ 11.00 per week. The League had a Charity Tournament on March 8, 2003, and a Bowling Banquet on May 3, 2003. In Season 4, the League had 52 regular bowlers and 10 substitute bowlers, making 12 teams and 2 ghost teams formed later in the season: Wicked Witches, Ditzy Divas, Wizards of Odd, Munchkins, Right Up Dorothy's Alley, Auntie Em's Girls, Gutter Girls, Void, No Place Like Homo, Kansas Queens, Tinman's Tools, Sub A Roos, Ghost 13, and Ghost 14.
