1990, February 16 * UW Imprint Column: The Voice of Treason The GQ Quiz

A satire questionnaire written by J Hagey states that this quick quiz will let you know your Geek Quotient. Question #2 asks “Have you ever been a member of A) The Communist Party? B) GLLOW? (But do you know what it means?) or C) Menudo?” Question 6 asks “Who, in your opinion, exploits women more” with one of the options being “Womyn” - which was a pretty obvious reference to the lesbian feminist campus group called the Womyn's Group. It is hardly surprising that some of the questions involved cheap shots at the queer community and at feminists.

1990, February 16 * UW Imprint Column: Womyn's group not supported by Feds

A letter by Karen Davidson and Michelle Blais, writing as frequent attendees of the Womyn's Group, thanked G. Zimmerman et al for clarifying, in last week's Imprint, that “the Womyn's Group is not supported by the Federation of Students for the sole reason that they discriminate against men.” The authors point to the value of having lesbian-only space, and assert that discrimination is not always a negative thing. They are, however, aware that describing spaces and events as lesbian-only tends to create controversy, and indicate that this is why they have not attempted to seek the support of the Federation Students.

1990, March * Pink Triangle Community Calendar (PTCC)

This issue of the Pink Triangle Community Calendar had 4 unnumbered pages. It consisted of a folded sheet of pink paper sized 27.9 cm x 21.6 cm (11.0" x 8.5"). The front and back pages had a format size of 21.6 cm x 14.0 cm (8.5" x 5.5") to be read in portrait orientation. The two central pages were a centre-fold of 27.9 cm x 21.6 cm (11.0" x 8.5") to be read in portrait orientation - but rotated 90° with respect to the front and back pages.

The front page of this issue was headed International Women's Day; it described March 8 as “a day which recognizes and celebrates women, their spirituality and their accomplishments.” The article then expanded upon the purposes of International Women's Day, and also referred to some associated local events that were planned for the week of Saturday March 3 to Sunday March 11, 1990.

The centre-fold was entitled Calendar of Events (which are listed in this Chronology). The back page listed local organizations and clubs; it concluded with some classified ads. The following organizations were listed on the back page: AIDS Committee of Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo and Area (ACCKWA); AIDS Committee of Guelph & Wellington County; Gay and Lesbian Liberation of Waterloo (GLLOW); Gay and Lesbian Youth of Kitchener-Waterloo; Gays Out Of Doors (GOOD); Guelph Gay Equality; Grand River Free Spirit Community Church; The Womyn's Group; and Women Out Of Doors (WOODS). The Clubs listed were The Robin's Nest (Cambridge) and The Half and Half Club (Kitchener).
